Start one at your school, workplace, or in your community.
Want to champion literacy and expand access to books? Hosting a READefining Futures Book Drive is a powerful way to give back — and it’s easy to get started. Whether you’re a student, educator, librarian, or business owner, you can rally your community to rewrite stories and build brighter futures.
Steps for Hosting a Book Drive
1
Confirm Space for Your Donation Bin(s)
Choose a visible, accessible spot at your school, library, office, place of worship, or local business where at least one donation bin can be placed. Make sure it’s in a location where foot traffic is high!
2
Promote the Drive
You’ll receive our Drive Kit, which includes printable flyers, posters, and newsletter/social media templates. These materials help communicate:
- What books we accept (children’s, middle grade, YA, gently used or new)
- Our mission and how donations will be used
- Drop-off instructions and deadlines
3
Set Clear Start and End Dates
We recommend keeping your drive open for 2-3 weeks. This gives your community time to donate while creating a sense of urgency.
4
Get Donating!
Encourage participation through daily announcements, emails, or classroom shoutouts. Consider offering small incentives or hosting a closing celebration for your group!
Why Host a Book Drive?
Community Impact
Bring your school, club, or business together for a cause that truly matters — increasing literacy access for children and teens who need it most.
Leadership & Service
Perfect for service hours, club projects (like NHS or Student Council), and student-led activism. You’ll also get a thank-you certificate and an optional spotlight on our website or socials!
Align with a Meaningful Mission
Businesses and organizations that host a drive show their community they care. It’s a great way to build brand goodwill and stand out as a socially conscious leader.
